- I. C. Norcom High School
Describe yourself in three words: Bold, sensitive, and funny.
How did you first get involved with ACCESS? I was waiting to go into church and Trina Love came up to me and said I have the perfect job for you. You love children and you know how to do simple math. So I applied for the job not knowing that the boss attends the same church.
What is your most memorable/rewarding moment working with ACCESS? I have a few memorable/rewarding moments. However, I think the most memorable is when I use to lead the overnight trips to Virginia Tech. I would encourage my Norcom’s students to have vision and look beyond their circumstances and believe they can graduate from Va. Tech. Jamonte Banks and Jamaica Sykes had vision and believed. They are now graduates of Virginia Tech. Jamonte is teaching in D.C. and Jamaica is in medical school.
What is the most important piece of advice you would give to a college-bound student? Apply for graduate school the day after you complete you Bachelor's degree. Keep going, don’t stop!
